Good Work Assembly

We had our monthly Good Work Assembly this week and we loved being able to share our learning with parents and friends from the community. Our first 'Class Star' certificates were given out to some very deserving children and every class had the opportunity to share all their hard work. We even met Fred the Frog when Squirrels Class shared what they have been learning in Phonics!

Trees for Dorset

This year, we have begun a project with the charity 'Trees for Dorset'. Foxes Class spent one day this week with the team and had the opportunity to learn an awful lot about seed, fruits, berries and trees. During the morning, they pulled on their wellies and went walking in the local area. The afternoon was spent drawing some of their findings in detail and also planting some seeds. Thank you to 'Trees for Dorset' for giving us such a fantastic and educational day!

Visit From an Author

We were thrilled to welcome C.S.Clifford into our school yesterday. He kept both children and adults absolutely spellbound as he read aloud some stories to us. He also led writing workshops in the Key Stage 2 classes and children were given the opportunity to do their own independent writing. It was wonderful to hear the children sharing wonderfully, imaginative ideas whilst getting some 'top tips' for their writing. The day ended with pupils being given the opportunity to purchase a book and get it signed by the author himself. What an inspirational day!

Celebrating Achievements

We regularly celebrate the children's academic achievements in school. However, we always like to recognise activities that the pupils take part in out of school hours. This week we are congratulating two pupils for their participation in a dance show. Well done girls!!

Dorset Music Service

Badgers Class enjoyed their first Recorder Lesson on Wednesday afternoon. I sincerely hope that they will practise using their new instrument at home and I look forward to seeing their musical talent develop over the coming weeks. at home and I look forward to seeing their musical talent develop over the coming weeks.

Pupil Voice

We have now completed the process of electing Prefects and School Councillors. I am confident that each of the children selected will take great pride in their roles and that they will be fantastic role models for the other children.

Phonics Workshop for Parents

Thank you very much to all the parents/carers of our Reception children who attended our Read Write Inc Phonics Workshop this morning. We hope you found it useful and that you enjoyed meeting Fred the Frog! If you have any further questions then do please speak to Mr Charman and you are very welcome to have a look at the 'Read Write Inc' section on our website for further videos about how you can help at home.

Praise Awards

We concluded our first full week back with a Praise Assembly. I would like to thank all of the children for coming back to school with such a positive attitude. Congratulations to the children who received an award this week and I am looking forward to giving out many more awards.
