Governors Statement of Intent
As Governors we endorse the Schools` vision and will do everything we can to ensure that ALL of our pupils leave us ready to take the next step in their education.
Our pupils will be ready academically and socially having realised their full potential regardless of the challenges they face.
We will work with the staff to provide a first class education for our children of which the Community is proud.
We will work closely with the Leaders of our school providing support and constructive challenge.
Mr Mike Glanville - Chair of Governors - 01/08/2015 - 31/07/2023
I am a former senior police officer with Dorset Police and am now a Company Director for a safeguarding company based in Dorchester. I have been a school governor since 2010 having previously served at a primary school in Weymouth and have been the Chair of Governors at Wool for the past 4 years. I am married with 2 grown-up daughters and to relax I enjoy spending time walking in the Dorset countryside, visiting bookshops (pre-lockdown of course) and following the fortunes of Somerset cricket and Bath rugby.
Kate Harvey - Vice Chair and Parent Governor - 01/04/2020 - 31/03/2023
I have been a parent governor at wool primary since 2019 and have two children in the school. As a governor, I lead on pupil premium.
Mrs Ellie Griffiths - Headteacher
I have spent my teaching career in Dorset schools and have taught across key stages within that time. I am committed to helping the children of Wool Primary thrive and to providing them with stimulating and engaging learning opportunities. When not in school, I enjoy carrying out several other roles within the wider community of Wool. I have been a member of the committee at Wool Pre-School and Playgroup for several years, and have helped at the local Beavers group in the past. I can often be seen ferrying my own two children around to various clubs around the village!
Mr John Matthews - Foundation Governor - October 2021 - October 2024
I have lived in Wool with my wife for over 50 years. Our children, now grown up with families on their own, came to this school. I spent time at Bovington Middle School as a Parent Governor, and from 2000-10 was a Governor at Wool School (when the school achieved excellent reports from OFSTED and SIAMS) before taking a break as the education system moved to two-tier system.
I am a Licensed Lay Minister at Holy Rood Church, Wool. This role includes a major amount of teaching. Putting this experience all together is the key reason why he offered to become a Foundation Governor once again.
