Curriculum
An engaging curriculum which nurtures independent learners.
At Wool CE Primary School we are very aware that the foundation skills we learn at Primary School are vital if we are to nurture a love of learning in our children. Our Christian values underpin our approach and we strive to encourage aspiration and perseverance so that our children become resilient and confident problem solvers who are respectful and have enquiring minds. We want our children's to value the place they have in the world and to recognise the important part they play. We want them to know that they can have a positive impact on our school community, a local setting and also on a national and global scale.
Wool CE Primary School Agreed Principles of Effective Teaching and Learning

The effective principles which Wool CE Primary staff have agreed are based on Rosenshine's principles. These are outlined in the image above and incorporate strategies for ensuring learning tasks are differentiated according to need. Staff use various approaches to provide help for children and also further challenge to ensure everyone makes progress, grows and flourishes. For example, a child might be given physical resources to help them solve a calculation in maths or given word cards to support them with spellings when completing a writing task. Staff are skilled at using questioning to help them assess whether each child has achieved the learning objective and feedback (both verbal and written) is used to address misconceptions and also move learning on.
